Therapy and Counseling

When seeking counseling, it is important for you to find a therapist you can feel safe with to walk beside you on the healing journey. As an integrative therapist, I focus on the unique aspects and needs of each person, and draw upon the therapeutic elements that are most helpful in the moment. I believe in supporting clients in establishing their own sense of safety, personal validation, and a more meaningful connection with themselves and others. With the therapeutic relationship at the heart of counseling, I encourage clients to find new ways of knowing themselves, to heal past issues and traumas, and to create hopeful and self-affirming thoughts and beliefs.

Individual therapy

I offer Individual Therapy sessions for adults of all ages.

The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of our work together. You might consider yourself stressed and overwhelmed, struggling to manage your life, or you may be experiencing a number of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, a history of trauma, PTSD, childhood related issues, relationship issues, grief and loss issues, medical issues, or addiction such as substance use disorders, gambling, food, sex and other addictions. Ultimately therapy is meant to help us feel better, function better, manage our lives better, and to truly be much more hopeful about life and who we are.

By taking a trauma-informed approach inspired by positive and transpersonal psychology that is both eclectic and integrative, some of the modalities I use include psychodynamic therapy, relational therapy, transpersonal therapy, depth psychology, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement and desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), mindfulness-based therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and sandtray.

TeleMentalHealth

Since the Covid pandemic, TeleHealth has become an even more valuable way to provide therapy. Meeting in person is often a ideal way to experience therapy and the therapeutic relationship. Yet, not only has TeleHealth become a great way to provide therapy when office visits are not possible or are impractical, it has become a regular and convenient platform for therapy for so many people. TeleHealth usually occurs through a video chat format that can be used on a computer with a camera, or on a tablet or smart phone. I use a secure HIPAA compliant video system that is an integrated part of a medical records program called Simple Practice. Starting early in the pandemic, many insurance companies have approved Telehealth by phone as well, and so far that has continued. Before setting up an appointment, we will explore the best options for TeleHealth, answer any questions or concerns you may have and see if this form of therapy will work for you.
